About Rio Secreto

Rio Secreto is the incredible secret underground cave full of stalactites and stalagmites near Playa del Carmen in the Yucatan Province in Mexico.

Rio Secreto was only re-discovered by accident back in 2007 by a local resident, Don Cleo, as he was wandering the jungle in the area!

Take the opportunity to enjoy a guided visit and swim in this incredible place on an underground tour through the River Secreto! Walk, wade and swim your way through the tour and enjoy views that you’ve likely never experienced before as you see millions of years of history in this mesmerising underground location.

You will see a huge selection of stalactites and stalagmites as you travel through the caves, as well as the incredible flora and fauna that have found their homes here over the centuries, creating an ecosystem in this incredible underground environment.

As the water is crystal clear, you can see the fish in the water as well as the other aquatic life.
